Beginning in 2006, minted in Perth, the Discover Australia series was established to showcase famous Australian landmarks, regions and cities, as well as native flora and fauna. This coin features a highly detailed depiction of an Australian Goanna - one of our largest native lizards and the inscription "Discover Australia". The coin’s obverse depicts the Ian Rank-Broadley effigy of Her Majesty Queen Elizabeth II, the 2012 year-date and the monetary denomination.
